J LO – Do It Well (Sony 1/10/07)
Hold the sauce! J Lo has left domestic bliss & launched the ‘debauched’...where’s the girl that sings about her rocks & what is real?! This is naughty J Lo from the Block who has delivered a brilliant club track which has beats as racy as the risqué video. The track is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Brave’ which is scheduled for release in October.

Kanye West – Good Life (Mercury 29/10/07)
Kanye diggit? Yes he can. Kanye has graduated with flying colours, going straight to No.1 with his latest single & 3rd album in the ‘college series’. This is the 2nd single to be taken from ‘Graduation’ & is the follow–up to the shiny Daft Punk sampled ‘Stronger’. Featuring R&B artist T–Pain, the track samples Michael Jackson’s ‘P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)’ to clever perfection.

Shiny Toy Guns – Rainy Monday (Mercury)
Riding the crest of a Razr wave for the new Motorola ad in the US, Shiny Toy Guns release this perfect fusion of electro–indie with a chorus that charms its way into your head. Taken from the album ‘We Are Pilots’ they have just had a brilliant summer storming festivals with their compelling live sets.

We’re Going To Be Friends – Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson, everyone’s favourite surf dude, took a trip down children’s movie lane & recorded this track for ‘Sing–A–Longs and Lullabies’ from ‘Curious George’ but it was actually written by the peerless Jack White. He must be getting good practice as he’s just become a daddy (aah!) for the second time (welcome lil’ Henry Lee). It was originally released on The White Stripes’ superb ‘White Blood Cells’ album & this poignant paean to the best days of our lives deserves a British baggy trousered or maybe skinny jeaned make–over...kids– do it for the kids!

King Kong Five – Mano Negra
With a new album out and UK dates forthcoming (beg, steal or blag a ticket if you can), everyone’s Manu Chao crazy again, but this treat is just for you – a killer tune from his previous band’s ‘Puta’s Fever’ album, beloved by Clash itchy rockers and Balearic DJs alike. This melting pot of latin, ska, punk and hip hop should inspire a new generation to re–work the shout–out groove of this absolute classic. Kings of the Bongo, baby, and they don’t stop!

Reverend And The Makers – Heavyweight Champion Of The World (album ‘The State Of Things’ out now on Wall Of Sound)
All hail to the mighty Reverend & his magnificent lyrical genius – for he’s a poet & he doth know it. The Reverend a.k.a.Jon McClure formed the band in 2005 with his musician pals who are the Makers; already well known on the Sheffield scene & a close pal of Alex Turner’s, he has used his talent & ambition to get where he is. In 2006 the band were signed by Wall Of Sound Records with Mark Jones proclaiming them ‘the best band in the world’. And their debut single proved this – the anthemic ‘Heavyweight Champion Of The World’ shot into the Top 10 and woke everyone up to the new sound of the North.
